Portrait of the late pop-music icon was estimated to be worth half a million to seven hundred thousand U.S. dollars.
Unnamed buyer purchased Warhol’s portrait of Michael Jackson, which originated at the time of the album “Thriller”. The work was sold on Tuesday for $ 812,500 at Christie's auction house in New York.
Portrait of the late pop-music icon was estimated to be worth half a million to 700,000 U.S. dollars.
The seller is an anonymous private collector from New York who bought a portrait from Andy Warhol Foundation during the 90’s.
Two other works by Andy Warhol were also sold on Tuesday.
