A statement on the band`s website read: `We`re sorry to report that Coldplay have been forced to postpone due to illness.`
The group axed a planned concert in New York on Wednesday after encountering several setbacks including the singer being hit by a throat bug and badly scorching his arm on backstage electrical equipment, as well as poor weather conditions.
Bassist Guy Berryman has been keeping fans informed of their bad luck on the group’s Twitter page.
He wrote earlier this week: “New York is hot today!! Chris burned his arm last night at Hershey stadium. He made it though.”
The day before, he announced: “Stage is soaked. Just killed power as a precaution. Looks like it's almost passed tho (sic).”
A statement on the band’s website read: “We’re sorry to report that Coldplay have been forced to postpone due to illness. They have asked us to apologise for the inconvenience but we are currently in the process of re-arranging the show for another date.”
The ‘Viva La Vida’ hitmakers – Chris, Guy, Jonny Buckland, and Will Champion – are also expected to axe a planned US show Friday to help Chris recover.
Despite their run of bad luck, Chris normally goes to great lengths to ensure his concerts go well.
The frontman recently revealed he has several rituals he performs when preparing for a show.
He said: "For me, there are about 18 things I have to do before I can go out to perform - most of them are too ridiculous to repeat! One is I have to brush my teeth before I go on stage, otherwise I just don't feel smart enough."
