Even though guitars are used on the new, still nameless, album, Gahan has announced the return to the roots and original DM sound.
Dave Gahan, Depeche Mode singer, confirmed for Los Angeles Tomes Pop & Hiss blog that the band has finished recording the new album. According to him, studio work and his authorship collaboration with Martin Gore were really good and 18 new tracks were recorded, 12 of which will be selected for the new album.

Other material will be released as a special EP or will be available online. Even though guitars are used on the new, still nameless, album, Gahan has announced the return to the roots and original Depeche Mode sound. Rhythm machines were used along with 70s synthesisers, while the band used some of the instruments they previously used at the start of their career.
To visit Zagreb in May
The new Depeche Mode album will be released in spring 2009. Gahan claims the album is great and the year will continue with their Tour of The Universe. Croatian fans will have the opportunity to hear the new material live on May 21 at Zagreb`s Arena venue.
