There will be 54 screenings at the Motovun Film Festival. This year’s partner country is Finland.
MOTOVUN, CROATIA - The morning projection of the film ‘Greed’ by director Etrich von Stroheim in the ‘Bauer’ theatre, started at 11 am. The screening opened the Motovun Film Festival, which will feature 65 various screenings, and will have a lot of additional content.
“The Motovun hill will also be a special film experience this year. The main program includes 21 titles, and it combines films which have achieved success at respected world festivals with those which are less known and will find a hard time reaching the Croatian public” said the director of the festival Igor Mirkovic at today’s press conference in Motovun.
Finland – partner country
He added that Finland is this year’s partner country, which will, besides its recent film productions through the program ‘New Finnish Film’, present the Finnish music scene with two concerts.
He said that up until now in Motovun, since the partner country program was implemented, no country has presented themselves so richly as the Finnish cultural scene.
Before all, there is a program of fifteen films here, a strong representation by the guests, led by one of the most famous directors Mik Kaurismäki, and the leading documentary producer Art Halonen.
“Two attractions are coming from the Finland for the music program – the band ‘22 Pistepirkko’, and the singer-songwriter Ismo Alanko” said Mirkovic. Another adventure awaits the public, said Mirkovic, and added that “we would personally like the festival to be remembered as a happy place in unhappy times”.
