During his tribute to the Best Picture nominees, Hugh sang and danced and carried Anne onto the stage.
The ‘Australia’ actor – who hosted the Academy Awards ceremony last month – couldn’t loosen up until his opening musical performance with Anne Hathaway was over.
He said: "After that I was able to relax. I knew we were going to be OK after that. But when we were planning that whole thing for live TV, it was a bit tense."
During his tribute to the Best Picture nominees, Hugh sang and danced and carried Anne onto the stage.
The 40-year-old actor would consider hosting the prestigious awards again but would need to be better prepared in case he dropped someone next time. He quipped: "I’d have a clever line ready for the audience. And her agents!" Since the awards, Hugh has been focusing on his upcoming movie ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ which will see the Australian heartthrob acting and directing.
Hugh is confident the character of Wolverine has been given the storyline he deserves for his fourth outing on the big screen.
He told USA Today newspaper: "I thought he had gotten a bit soft. I thought we had gotten away from the essence of who Wolverine really is - a bad dude who wants to live his own life. I wanted to own up to the responsibility of this character. I wanted to put myself into this movie in every way
possible. This is the movie that I’ve seen in my head for a long time."
The action movie – which will see Hugh star alongside Ryan Reynolds, Liev Schreiber and Taylor Kitsch - will be released worldwide from May.
