Katie Holmes Dances, Sings as Judy Garland

Text

The actress decided to honour one of the greatest Hollywood and gay icons of all time, in Judy´s way. With dance and song.

For the 100th episode of the American show “So You Think You Can Dance”, the actress Katie Holmes showed that she is far from the impression that she created with her role in the series “Dawson’s Creek” and numerous other romantic comedies. Kate performed the song “Get Happy” by the deceased Judy Garland. It looked very sensual and sexy, reports Daily Mail. The show was led by the Briton Cat Deeley.

Katie Holmes, amongst other things, performed to bring attention to her new foundation that gives school fees to talented dancers, choreographers and dance teachers. She considers that a new generation is in question which needs to get to know what they want and how to enable access to the best.
Katie confirmed that she was honouring Judy Garland and that she did so by having fun at the same time, considering that she loves to dance and sing. The video clip starts by Katie getting out of an old style car, wearing a white skirt and jacket. The style dates from the 1940s. In the spirit of the time, the actress leans against a lamppost and starts to sing.

Organization which gives scholarships to dancers

When the scene changes, Katie is wearing a black hat, long black jacket and stockings. Muscled men dance around her, and at one moment they pick her up and carry her over their heads, only to put her down on the top of a piano so she could start dancing on it.

In the interview that followed, Katie Holmes told the host Cat Deeley that the promotion of the organization “Dizzy Feet Foundation” stands behind the performance.

Katie supports the project, together with the judge from the show with the same name, Nigel Lythgo, who intends on helping underprivileged children become professional dancers. The organization offers scholarships to talented dancers, dance choreographers and dance teachers.
