Migraine-Hit Janet Jackson to Resume U.S. Tour

Jackson`s Rock Witchu tour, which opened on Sept. 7 in Vancouver, was the first time the singer had gone on the road in seven years.

A rare form of migraine forced Janet Jackson to cancel several dates on her Rock Witchu concert tour but she planned to return to the stage on Wednesday in Washington, D.C., her manager said.

Jackson's health problems had been a mystery since her show in Montreal was called off at the last minute on Sept. 29. The Grammy-award winning singer, who is 42, was rushed to a hospital and released a couple hours later.

Since then she has canceled or postponed six shows, often at short notice.

Jackson's representatives released a statement saying that doctors had determined the singer suffers from migraine-associated vertigo and is receiving treatment.

"Janet wanted very much to resume her tour so as not to disappoint her fans, but she continued to suffer from vertigo and could not perform," Kenneth Crear, the singer's manager, said in a statement.

Following her show in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, Jackson will perform eight dates, including a concert on Nov. 1 in New York City, the singer's representatives said.

New dates for shows in Montreal, Boston, Philadelphia, Greensboro in North Carolina, Fort Lauderdale in Florida, and Uncasville in Connecticut will be announced, the singer's representatives said.

Jackson is the younger sister of pop icon Michael Jackson. Her Rock Witchu tour, which opened on Sept. 7 in Vancouver, was the first time the singer had gone on the road in seven years.

Jackson announced in September that she was parting ways with her record company, Island Def Jam.
