Nicholson Eyes Role In Brooks Comedy

Text

Nicholson is in talks to join the cast of Brooks` latest project, an untitled romantic comedy that stars R. Witherspoon and Paul Rudd.

Jack Nicholson is considering reuniting with James L. Brooks, the filmmaker who directed him in Oscar-winning performances in "Terms of Endearment" and "As Good as It Gets."

Nicholson is in talks to join the cast of Brooks' latest project, an untitled romantic comedy that stars Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd and Owen Wilson.

Written by Brooks, the story involves a professional softball player (Witherspoon) who's torn between two men, a solid guy played by Rudd and a charming pitcher with a 94-mile-an-hour fastball (Wilson).

Bill Murray had been in talks to play the role of the father but lost interest. Nicholson, who has been eager to work in front of the camera again and has bee talking to several studios about certain projects, stepped in to help his old friend.

Nicholson's deals are known for being notoriously hard to close, and this one is still in the early stages.

The project is expected to start lensing later in June on the East Coast.
