PhotoInspired by Russian folk tales and a German legend, the beautiful Swan Lake is taking place in London.
The dancers of the British Royal Ballet are diligently rehearsing their version of one of the most popular ballets in the world – Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovski’s ‘Swan Lake’.
‘Swan Lake’ is a love story of the princess Odette who was turned by an evil wizard, Von Rothbart, into a swan, and the prince Siegfried who the evil wizard is trying to get to marry his daughter Odile.
- The ethereal forms of the swans, illuminated by moonlight, the charged solos for the Prince and Odette and her alter-ego Odile, the machinations of Von Rothbart and the colour of a palace ball – all combine with glorious music in an evening of inspiration and romance – it is written on the official web site of the Royal Opera House, along with the claim that it is the most beautiful Swan Lake in town.
The new Royal Ballet Season opens with a revival of Anthony Dowell’s romantic production. The season will open on October 4.
