Police confirm actor Oscarsson dead

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- Dental records were used to identify remains found in a Swedish house fire as that of actor Per Oscarsson and his wife, Kia Ostling, police said.

Oscarsson, 83, has appeared in more than 100 Swedish feature films, but is perhaps best known to international audiences for his role in the movies "The Girl Who Played With Fire" and "The Girl Who Kicked Hornet's Nest."

Police spokesman Ulf Edberg told The Hollywood Reporter the couple's remains were identified early Wednesday, but Edberg said the cause of the blaze that killed them is still unknown.

"The cabin they were in was so burnt out, we might never find out exactly what happened," Edberg said. "But there is no evidence of foul play being involved."
