The rags to riches tale set in the slums of Mumbai has so far taken 25.8 million pounds during its eight weeks in the UK charts.
Director Danny Boyle's mega-hit which won eight Oscars last month including best picture took another 1.6 million pounds as it rose from third position.

Eastwood's acclaimed "Gran Torino," in which he plays a bigoted Korean war veteran living doggedly in the past, jumped nine places to No. 2 with a take of 1.3 million pounds.
Horror flick "The Unborn" was new in third spot with the story of a woman haunted by the spirit of her stillborn twin while last week's chart-topper, the Disney animation "Bolt," was down at four.
"Confessions of a Shopaholic," slipped three places to five.
Topically taking bankers as its villains, "The International" starring Clive Owen made its debut at six, just above Emma Roberts and Jake T. Austin with their inner city pet shelter "Hotel for Dogs," which fell three places to seventh.
"He's Just Not That Into You," with Jennifer Aniston and Ben Affleck was down at eight from six while Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett slipped four places to ninth with age-reversal film, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button."
At 10 was the week's third newcomer, "New in Town," with city slicker Renee Zellweger learning homespun country values in the dead of a Minnesota winter.
