Sting hasn't lost his love for the bass
CHICAGO, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Sting says he is a bass man as he takes a retrospective concert tour on the road in the United States and Canada.
The veteran recording artist will lay down the beat for the six-member band on his Back to Bass Tour, which began last week and plays a sold-out show at Chicago's Rosemont Theater Saturday.
Sting hit the big time as the singer and bass player for the New Wave trio The Police and hasn't given up on the instrument despite successful forays into more orchestrated music, the Chicago Sun-Times said.
The newspaper said Sting has been working with a vintage Fender Precision bass for several years and is strapping it on again for his current tour.
"I have no idea what this new band is going to sound like," Sting told USA Today recently. "It could be a triumph; it could be a total failure. But I don't think anything worthwhile is without risk."
