The lead singer of the Canadian pop band Barenaked Ladies survived a plane crash on Sunday. Ed Robertson and three other people walked away from their downed Cessna when it crash landed in a rural part of southeastern Ontario. All escaped with no injury.
"American Idol" has a new judge. Songwriter and producer Kara DioGuardi will join Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson on Fox's hit show. DioGuardi has written and produced songs for many music stars including Gwen Stefani and Christina Aguilera.
In other reality TV news, Paris Hilton has apparently not found a friend on her current show and is expanding her search across the pond. The heiress finished her series called "Paris Hilton's My New BFF," - where wannabe members of Hilton's entourage fight for her friendship. But before the show even airs, Hilton announced she had so much fun, she's launching a U.K. version.
Warner Bros. is not happy about the title of an upcoming Indian film, "Hari Puttar -- A Comedy of Terrors." Warners feels it's a little too close to the name of the popular boy wizard, Harry Potter. India's Mirchi Movies defended itself, however, saying that "Hari" is a popular Indian name, and "puttar" means "son" in the Punjabi language.
Pop star Dido has announced her return to the music scene with a new album following a five-year absence. "Safe Trip Home" will be the follow up to 2003's "Life For Rent," which became the UK's fourth biggest selling album of the decade. The first single off the new album is due for release in November.
Finally, the original 007, Sean Connery, has released his long-awaited memoirs. Entitled "Being a Scot," the book is a mixture of autobiography and Connery's take on the influence of Scots on world culture.
