Chameleon of the world`s music scene was born in London on January 8, 1947, who has an enviable career behind him and almost 30 albums.

Musically active for less than five decades, during which he altered musical styles and image several times, just like a chameleon, David Bowie is on the most interesting and talented British musicians, who has so far released nearly 30 albums.

Active on film and in theatre

Born David Jones on January 8, 1947 in London, he showed interest and a sense for art. Apart from music, Bowie tried acting on film and in theatre: at the end of 1980s, he played in a Broadway show called “The Elephant Man” and “Schoener Gigolo, Armer Gigolo” film, aka “Just A Gigolo”. In 1985, Bowie composed  the music for “Absolute Beginners” and played the starring role in “Labyrinth”. He recorded five songs for Monty Python and he played Pontoius Pilate in Scorcese`s “The Last Temptation of Christ”.

Began his music career at the age of 9

He began his music career in 1956, as a 9-year-old in The Konrads, while he released his first single “Liza Jane” in 1964 with The King Bees. David Bowie`s first album, described as a mixture of pop and psychedelic was released in 1967, simply called “David Bowie”. Afterwards, he lined albums “The Man Who Sold The World”, “Diamond Dogs”, “Young Americans”, “Heroes”, “Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)”, commercially most successful “Let`s Dance” and many more. He collaborated with other musicians, the most famous collaboration being “Under Pressure” with Queen and “Dancing In The Street” with Mick Jagger.

Bowie also composed the music for a video game called “Omikron: The Nomad Soul” in 1999, in which he appears with his wife, Somali supermodel Iman. The music from the video game was processed and found its place on his “Hours…” album the same year. Throughout the years and years of his music career, Bowie toyed with various styles, more or less successfully. We had the chance of hearing electronic music, classical notes, r`n`b, soul, psychedelic rock, pop and a whole other bunch of things, which made his albums recognisable. The profession acknowledged him in 2006, rewarding him with a lifetime achievement Grammy award.

Today, David Bowie will celebrate his 62 nd birthday with a traditional, 11 th 3-day Bowie Bash called “Peace and Bowie” in Bassano del Grappa, Italy, with Italian musicians joining him on stage.
