Alex Reid has admitted he is glad to be apart from wife Katie Price while he trains for his upcoming cage fight against Tom 'Kong' Watson.

The cage-fighter - who married the former glamour model in Las Vegas in February - has remained in England to prepare for a bout while his spouse holidays in Portugal with her three children and admits he is enjoying the peace at home.

He explained to the Daily Star newspaper: "It's been great that the missus has been away because I get a better night's sleep with no kids in the house! I had a day off from training and I was going to do a bit of shopping and maybe watch a movie with a friend.

"I didn't do anything. I spent the whole day on the sofa in my pants watching old films. You can't top that, it was great. I felt recharged!"

Meanwhile, Katie - who has Harvey, eight, Junior, five, and three-year-old Princess Tiaamii from previous relationships - had blasted her critics, claiming she is portrayed as a "bad mum".

She told Wonderland magazine: "People always try to make out that I am f***ed up in the head because I've had surgery. They just want to say that I'm a bad mum, a party animal, a surgery freak, losing the plot.

"The paparazzi treat me like a product, an animal."
