‘Bruno’ facing a 70 million pound lawsuit

Palestinian peace activist is suing Sasha Baron Cohen for depicting him as the leader of the terrorist group.

The world's most famous comedian, Sasha Baron Cohen, is facing a 70 million pound lawsuit because of his latest movie hit Bruno, says British Daily Mail.

Cohen is sued by Aitai Abu Ayman, a merchant and Palestinian peace activist, who says that movie’s depiction of him as the leader of the al-Aqsa terrorist group ruined his life.

The movie Bruno is about a gay reporter who travels to the refugee camp Ein El-Hilweh in Lebanon to meet with the leader of Al-Aqsa Brigade.

The film describes Abu Aitai as the leader of the terrorist group known for suicide bombings. Abu Aitai agreed to interview with Bruno and his assistant translated the strange and offensive statements.

The scene was filmed in the famous hotel on the outskirts of Bethlehem in the West Bank, which is normally controlled by Israel.

They found the ‘real terrorist’

Last July, in the popular David Letterman Show, Sasha Baron Cohen said that his production team found the ‘real terrorist’ through the CIA contacts.

Abu Aitai filed a complaint against Cohen, NBC Universal studios and David Letterman and seeks 70 million pounds in damages, which is equal to half the total amount that the film earned so far at the box office.

Abu Aitai, father of four children, said that he received a threat messages after the film was released and he claims that he is a firm opponent of terrorism. He said that he agreed to the interview because he was told that he was going to meet a German producer who wanted to film a movie about the problems in Palestine.
