Jury of world architects for the Mies van der Rohe Award of the European Union for Contemporary Architecture chose, among 273 projects from 32 European countries, 40 best works, two of which are architectural realisations from Croatia.

All 40 selected works chosen according to the criteria of innovation and excellence, including their high construction quality, will be presented at an exhibition and in the Mies Award 2007 publication.
The festivity at the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in Barcelona will be held on May 14, this year, during which winners of the main prize of 50,000 euro will be announced. Namely, Mies van der Rohe Foundation awards two prizes – the EU Award for contemporary architecture and a Special Mention award to a young architect.
The include of two Croatian projects in the narrowest circle of the best architectural accomplishments of the European Union is a great recognition and honour to Croatian architecture which participates this year for the first time in this most prestigious world award when it comes to contemporary architecture.

Apart from conservation and expanding understanding of the Pavilion, Mies van der Rohe Foundation also promotes awareness of contemporary architecture and urban planning and supports studies with the theme of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe`s work and of architectural modern. In line with the mission, the foundation organises awards, congresses, exhibitions, work-shops and installations.
