Duffy ruined the dress she was planning to wear to the BRIT Awards.

The Welsh songstress – who is nominated in four categories, including Best British Single and Best Female Solo Artist – was horrified when she accidentally ripped the glamorous gown.

She said: “It was a nightmare. I thought I had my dress sorted but I ripped it trying to squeeze into it. “Only kidding – it actually ripped when it got stuck in the zip of my bag so now I’m back to square one.”

But the 24-year-old blonde beauty won’t waste time or money searching for a replacement dress.

She said: “I’m actually not too worried. I like it that way – just wearing whatever looks good on the day.

“I’ll be wearing something I’ve already got. Maybe something I’ve been given in a goody bag.”

The ‘Mercy’ singer – who is also nominated for Best British Breakthrough Act and Best British Album – revealed she will perform a special song at the prestigious awards ceremony.

She added to BBC Radio One: “It’s going to be a real moment. It’s a really special arrangement and I’ve taken lots of care preparing it. “It’s a solo performance, a different recording of something you will know. I can’t give any more details, but it will be really special.”

The 2009 BRIT Awards will take place on February 18 in London’s Earls Court.
