Half Of Indian Women Never Heard Of AIDS

Only 57 percent of women in India are familiar with AIDS, their government taken aback.

On the other hand, 80 percent of men have heard of AIDS. India is a country where 5.7 million people are living infected with HIV virus. This is bar far the largest number of infested people than anywhere else in the world.

A large portion of 1.1 billion inhabitants live in rural areas where the education levels are very low, therefore only 30 percent of women are familiar with the existence of AIDS in some parts of the country.

The research has shown that out of the total number of infected people, 40 percent boils down to women.

Alarming information as well states that 54 percent of women is literate and 76 percent of men, ABC News reports.
