Terms of Dina and Michael Lohan's divorce, which will become official within 60 days, were not disclosed.
Speaking outside a New York courthouse on Friday (17.08.07), Michael said: "I wish Dina the best and I hope we can both move forward - for the kids' sake - and just be good parents."
Dina added: "Now the healing process can begin for my children and myself." Supreme Court Justice Robert A. Ross reportedly told the Lohans in court: "You have both demonstrated to me extraordinarily good judgment in resolving this matter as you did." Dina currently has custody of the couple's two youngest children, 13-year-old daughter Aliana and 11-year-old son Dakota.
Lindsay's parents will appear in a family court to arrange a permanent custody and visitation agreement for Aliana and Dakota on September 6. Michael, who was released from jail in March after serving almost two years for driving without a licence and attempted assault, was recently ordered to find a job and pay child support.
Judge Ross said last month: "Five months is a long time not to be gainfully employed. Child support is not something that's to be taken willy-nilly."
Michael was awarded supervised visitation of Aliana and Dakota on August 10. Lindsay, 21, and her brother Michael, 19, are both adults and therefore not involved in the custody case, which has been running for more than two years.
Dina and Michael were close to settling their divorce in 2005, but the deal collapsed when Michael was sent to jail.
Lindsay - who was arrested last month on suspicion of DUI (driving under the influence) - is currently being treated at Utah's Cirque Lodge rehabilitation facility. The 'Mean Girls' star faces two charges of DUI, possession of cocaine, transporting a narcotic into a custody facility and driving on a suspended licence.
She is due to appear in court for her DUI charges on August 24. Dina revealed her daughter is doing "fantastic".
