California officials charged actress Lindsay Lohan on Thursday with seven misdemeanor counts of cocaine possession.

California officials charged actress Lindsay Lohan on Thursday with seven misdemeanor counts of cocaine possession, drunken driving and reckless driving stemming from two recent arrests.

Film actress Lohan, 21, was arrested in May after wrecking her car in Beverly Hills and again in July following a car chase in the Los Angeles community of Santa Monica.

In each case Lohan possessed cocaine, but the amounts were below the .05 grams required for more serious felony charges of drug possession, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office said in a statement.

Lohan, who has done two rehab stints this year, has seen her promising film career plummet in recent years. Last month, she starred as a stripped abducted by a sadistic killer in the box office bomb "I Know Who Killed Me."
