Madonna Worst Dressed Celebrity In 2009

Madonna has been named the Worst Dressed Celebrity of 2009.

The ‘4 Minutes’ singer topped the poll by animal rights group PETA because she continues to wear fur.

In a statement, PETA said: "When you see Madonna in fur, you realise why nobody has copied her style since 1984.

"We know she's on the prowl for a young cur, but someone needs to tell Madonna that wearing fur doesn't make you a cougar."

Other celebrities on the list include Kanye West, Kate Moss, Mary J Blige, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Elizabeth Hurley and Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen.

Despite her unwanted title, Madonna is launching a new fashion line. The ‘Material Girl’ singer has teamed up with designer Ed Hardy to create the “innovative” range, which includes tattoo-inspired T-shirts and diamante-encrusted bodices.

Brand owner Christian Audigier approached the 50-year-old singer after he spotted her wearing Ed’s tattoo-print clothes.

He reportedly offered Madonna a six-figure sum to design her own line and even organised a private catwalk show to inspire her.

The musician was seen arriving at Audigier’s office last month and will reportedly put the finishing touches to her range this month.

Madonna designed a “cheap and trendy” range for Swedish clothing company H+M in March 2007.
