Mr. Bean Laughs Once Every Five Years

Mr. Bean hardly ever laughs in real life.

British comedian Rowan Atkinson recently said that he laughed out loud once every five years on average. Even though in movies he plays characters that make the audience laugh so hard they cry, Atkinson himself is not a big fan of laughter. Moreover, his audience's laughter does not bring him any particular pleasure. 

"Some actors get an incredible high from hearing laughter, but I don't. Sadly, I never feel any great adrenaline rush. I never get elated by it, I never feel any euphoria. All I get is relief. That it worked, and that it has gone down well and the job is being done. So I feel satisfaction rather than an elation. I don't laugh very much at all. I smile and I am enjoying myself but I don't laugh out loud, hardly ever - maybe once every five years," Atkinson told ContactMusic.
