However, lawyer Ron Richards, who represents Adham and Muradaz, insists his clients are innocent.

Police are reportedly preparing to arrest their prime suspect in connection to the death of Mark Ruffalo’s brother.

Officers investigating the alleged murder of hairdresser Scott Ruffalo – who was found with a gun shot wound to his head at home on December 1 – are said to be closing in on the person they believe committed the shooting.

Sergeant Michael Publicker, who is heading the Beverly Hills investigation, said: "We will be able to make an arrest.”

However, Publicker refused to be drawn further on details of the breakthrough, but confirmed detectives are focusing on “persons of interest” Shaha Mishaal Adham, 27 – who previously claimed Scott shot himself playing Russian roulette while high on cocaine - and Kristian Muradaz, 29.

Scott’s stepfather stepfather Jerry Hull is delighted police are preparing to swoop.

He said: "That's wonderful. I just want to see someone brought to justice.

We're going to be sad about this the rest of our lives. We want the perpetrator properly punished."

A Los Angeles coroner previously disputed the Russian Roulette claim, ruling Scott hadn’t killed himself as he was shot from an angle above and in front of his head and noting there was no gunpowder residue or "stippling" of the flesh around the wound, both of which often accompany a self-inflicted shot.

However, lawyer Ron Richards, who represents Adham and Muradaz, insists his clients are innocent.

he said: “The angle that the bullet entered is consistent with someone playing with a gun and it accidentally discharging.” Richards also argues doctors trying to save Scott, who died a week after the incident, may have washed away the gunpowder soot and the stippling could have healed by the
time of the autopsy.

A spokesperson for ’Zodiac’ star Mark had no comment on the latest developments.
