Oprah plans to announce the date of the final ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ on Friday, the Harpo Productions say.
The most popular U.S. talk-show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, will end its broadcast in 2011, Oprah Winfrey’s production company, Harpo Productions said on Thursday.
Winfrey plans to announce the final episode during Friday’s show, Harpo Productions said in a statement.
Winfrey's television career began in Nashville and Baltimore before she moved to Chicago in 1984 where she hosted a show called ‘AM Chicago’ with WLS TV. This show was renamed into The Oprah Winfrey Show in 1985.
A year later, she founded her own production house, Harpo, and in 1990 she opened the Harpo Studios in Chicago.
In January of 2008, she opened The Oprah Store, a souvenir and fashion boutique that gets visited by about 250 fans every day.
Oprah Winfrey publishes her own magazine “O”, and she is always featured on the cover page.
American television networks cite the unofficial sources and say that Oprah plans to launch her own cable television after 2011.
