FAIRY TALE IN THE PARK

Text
This sunny Saturday Zagreb citizens could witness a dance land-art project called “Fairy Tale in the Park”.
Dance land-art project “Fairy Tale in the Park” was performed on April 7 in the landscape of a park between Talovceva and Hanusev St. and the Francuska Revolucija Square.
Three dancers moved across the park`s surface, performing their fairy tale with accompanied by instruments and improvisations. Curious attendants followed them, also moving freely across the grass. Dancers` moves are blending with the landscape, harmonising with the rhythm of the stars and planets, listening to the energy flow of the earth…
Installations of Anastazija Debelli were set across the grass, made from cut branches left over after spring paring of trees in the park.
The author, along with artist Debelli, is choreographer Irma Omerzo. Dancers were Iva Hladnik, Ivana Pavlovic and Sonja Pregrad, costume maker Ivana Bakal, while Neven Krajacic was the musician.
-Man is separated from nature today. People in the city are surrounded with nature to some extent, but they are not allowed to touch anything, for instance to intervene in a park- said Anastazija Debelli, the artist. The project`s idea was to continue to be carried out as the landscape unfolds.
To the question if there were any interesting reaction from people, the dancers told us how the spectators embraced everything, especially those living in the vicinity of the park, because after a month of rehearsals and preparations in the park, they all became closer in a way.
The dance performance, apart from the assigned concept and groundwork choreography, was made by its own in that month, with the influence of the surroundings. For instance, the dancers and the choreographer were inspired by the walk of an old man who passed through the park, or the trees, the grass, animals…
Children were especially delighted with the “Fairy Tale in the Park”. They spontaneously picked up instruments during the performance, listened to the sounds and in a way imitated the dancers. Even alive rabbits were in the park, which they played with.
It is the participants` desire to continue performing this show, i.e. dance land-art performance in other parks as well, in other cities and they announced their next project for May.
