Photo125 thousand ‘geeks’ in love with SF, horror and cartoons flooded San Diego, with the celebrities following suit.
The 40th annual Comic-Con started this Thursday in San Diego. The convention is dedicated to film, cartoons, SF, horror and other genres.
Every year the event gathers around 125 thousand people, with the number rising each year. The best evidence of the interest in the event is the fact that all of the tickets for the events were sold out two months earlier.
However, to show that the event is not only for geeks, are the whole list of famous people who came to show that they also like these genres.
Visitors to San Diego included: Denzel Washington, Peter Jackson and James Cameron, Johnny Depp, Miguel Ferrer, George Clayton Johnson, Terry Gillam, Robert Downey Jr. and many others from the world of film.
First convention attracted only around 300 people
This sort of event that is filled with 3D projections is really a success for the organizers who created the event out of nothing. Only around 300 fans participated in the first such event.
Besides the fact that the guests can have fun with the help of the numerous programs, there are also people teaching how to make a film with little money, and there was also the premiere screening of various series and films to delight of all those present.
There will be an exclusive screening of the pilot for “The Vampire Diaries” and “Human Target”, the trailer for “Astro Boy”, and Shiny Tsukamoto will talk about his new projects, whilst James Cameron will present “Avatar” in 3D.
The Monty Python member Terry Gilliam will present the film “The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus” in which Heath Ledger played his final role. His partners in the film were Jude Law, Johnny Depp, Tom Waits, Collin Farrell and Lily Cole.
Take look at how day one of the total four of the convention looked like in the photo gallery: Comic-Con Attracts Celebrities to San Diego.
