Photo: Scream and Celtic dancers on Pentagram

Text

Locusts and sculls burn in fire, subjects shown on a gigantic video screen at Alexander McQueen Show

A female scream, models in tight leather trousers and cocoon like dresses of uneven cuts, and in high leather boots follow a shiny red pentagram on the catwalk.

Besides, his evening dresses exude elegance and simplicity.

McQueen, who used to work for theatre costume designers Angels and Bermans, before he began to study fashion and design in London, is known for his extravagant design.

He is one of the designers who exhibit in Paris, and who offer some extravagant end to their pretence.

Karl Lagerfeld showered paper snow on his models, and Jean Paul Gaultier put Celtic dancers on stage.

By creating the moment of intense emotions, I get much more media space than by creating a simple campaign – McQueen said for the French Elle.

The designs were inspired by the executed women of Salem, who had been accused of being witches. Some of them are the designer's ancestors.
