Surrealists like Dali and Magritte influenced Australian Brian Walker, as well as popular culture, internet and the fashion industry.
Brian Walker manipulates illustrations, photography and a dosage of surprise which provoke a reaction. He uses photographs as templates, which obtain a new, surreal meaning after intervention.
Ten or so years ago, he started with photography work. From his initial fascination with the black and white technique, he slowly started working in colour. At the same time, he started discovering the world of Photoshop. The possibilities which this software offers gave him full swing and brought his to the point where he is today. As he says himself: - I use photography as a tool with which I present the idea of the impossible-.
He was influenced by surrealists like Dali and Magritte, while today, he finds his inspiration in popular culture: films, magazines, internet and fashion. At the moment, he is inspired by the all-present plasticisation of the female body which is conducted by the fashion machinery.
