Premiere Of Cehov’s Galeb

Text

The young Russian’s Repertoire will be enriched by the performance Galeb, of the Russian writer Cehov.

The premiere of the drama by A.P. Cehov “Galeb” will be performed on the wooden floors of Zagreb’s theatre for the young on Saturday the 3rd of March.

In the repertoire of Vasilij Senjin’s, after the successful “Ana Karenjin” comes Cehov’s “Galeb”. The main roles will be acted by Doris Saric-Kukuljica and Kresimir Mikic in co-operation with new members of the ensemble Sreten Mokrovic and Jadranka Dokic.

In Galeb there are a number of classic melodramatic triangles and a few motifs which always question the exciting relationship between life and art, and were equally active in Cehov’s time in the transition between the 19th and 20th centuries, as in our time, the transition between the 20th and 21st century.

In the time frame of a hundred years, this performance testifies that emotion, passion and life’s priorities never change, and how seemingly small, unimportant dramas from their or our everyday lives live through big political or social fluctuations. This is why the theatrical drama “Galeb” offers laughs through tears, or tears through laughter as an authentic picture of our times.
