Pussycat Dolls “fell in” the reality show word on Tuesday evening. The aim of the show is to find another “Doll” and girl power.
Girls from the group most famous for their hit single refrain, “Don’t cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me?”, decided to venture the TV world through their own reality show which will be broadcast in the CW network.
“The Search for the Next Pussycat Doll” is a reality show of eight episodes where a singer-dancer will be found to join the group in the next 18 months.
The show follows nine final competitors who will learn dance moves with male partners, instructed how to dress sexy and get the most of their vocal abilities.
Still, CW producers say this is not just a quest for a singer-dancer who will join the group.
-This is a whole package of self-confidence, growing up and learning- says Robin Antin, group founder and TV Guide choreographer.
Dawn Ostroff, CW entertainment president, says their show promotes girl power, personal change and discovering the very own self.
TV critics, on the other hand, say this is more a sale of bodies than “girl power”. Utah’s Deseret News called the show “vulgar and disgraceful”.
There is a lively discussion on CW`s Internet message board about 100 posted reasons “pro” and 100 reasons “against” the show.
