Reese Witherspoon Humiliated By Her Divorce

Reese has admitted she reached the lowest point of her life when she split from Ryan in 2006 after seven years of marriage.

Reese Witherspoon was “humiliated” by her divorce from Ryan Phillippe.

The ‘Walk The Line’ actress has admitted she reached the lowest point of her life when she split from the ‘Breach’ actor in 2006 after seven years of marriage.

She said: “It was very humiliating and very isolating. But, by the way, if it’s not painful, maybe it wasn’t the decision to marry to begin with. Those are the appropriate emotions.”

The 32-year-old star – who is currently dating 29-year-old actor Jake Gyllenhaal – still feels confused by the end of her marriage which was finalised in 2007.

She explained: "When people get in your face and say, 'This will pass,' you think, ‘Are they crazy? ‘I'm never going to feel any better than I feel right this minute and nothing's ever going to make sense again.’ And I still have moments where I'm like, ‘Nothing's ever going to make sense again.’ "

Following the split, Reese - who has two children Ava, nine, and four-year-old Deacon with her ex-husband – did everything she could to stop the break-up turning nasty.

She told Elle magazine: “Blame, blame, blame. It's a really easy thing to do, and I'm certainly guilty of it. You have to look at yourself and go, 'What part of this do I need to own? Which part of this is my responsibility?’ And that's the painful work that you have to go through to hopefully get some real life knowledge out of it."

But the experience hasn’t put Reese off love forever and since meeting her boyfriend Jake on the set of their 2007 movie ‘Rendition’ the blonde beauty admits she is really happy.

She said: “He’s fabulous. He really is a fantastic guy.”
