Ricky Gervais’ Plans

Text

One of the recent original comedians these days can not stop working. As Milius would say: “I have found my wave!”

Ricky Gervais is not a name that everyone will recognize and always. He does not even look like somebody that is stopped on the street amuck. However, it is him, Ricky Gervais, the author of one of the best humoristic series which we have had a chance to see recently on television. The series is called “The Office”, and lasted only two seasons before Gervais started the new “The Extras”. In Croatia we have not had a chance to see it over the transmitter’s signal – antenna – tv set, but the internet exists, and episodes can be bought via the same. The series of only 12 episodes used movie extras, or very, very minor supporting actors to slap the world of film, human silliness and usual things.

Ricky Gervais, who was once the manager of the band Suede, a stand up comedian, actor, and author of two unbelievably fun and shrewd series, has gotten himself into a lot of work recently. He will act in the film “Ghost Town”, a fantastic (genre wise) comedy about a dentist who dies briefly, and when he comes alive he becomes the link between the world of the living and the dead. The director is also known, David Koepp, and amongst the actors with Gervais, we will find Greg Kinnear (Little Miss Sunshine).

“Ghost Town” will not be the first film appearance of Ricky Gervais. He acted in the film “Night At The Museum” and “For Your Consideration”, and soon we will be able to see him in the cinemas in “Stardust”. But that is not all for Gervais, the man who on the television talk show The Daily Show admitted that he likes to do “number one” in the sink, instead of the bathroom. Soon he will guest in the multidiscipline song, dance, film, performance and stand up comedy (which will be his discipline) event called High Line Festival. Which is a toy of the great David Bowie.

Quite a lot of work for a man spoken about in an urban myth, which says that he is one of those who “will never sell”.
