ODD DREAMS

What if you caught your partner cheating on you during the night, and they were fast asleep?
Imagine waking up one night and finding your partner with a stranger, and he or she cannot explain it. There is sometimes an explanation for these situations.
There are normally four stages of sleep. We go through the first one fast and then enter sleep. We spend most time in the second phase, while in the third and fourth stage we fall into deep sleep, and there is a possibility of sleep-walking. The fifth stage is the REM sleep (rapid eye movement), also a deep sleep when it is possible for a person to have sexual relations although they are not awake.
Sex you will not remember anyway
This stage is different from sleep-walking and this is actually an REM disorder. When a person enters the REM stage, the body “imobilises”, the muscles totally relax and this is when we most often dream. If this does not occur, a person can sometimes really realise their dreams. In some people this can be stimulated by alcohol, stress or perhaps a genetic disorder. If a person slept through the entire dream and did not interrupt it with waking up, they will not remember a thing. They will only remember their dream if they are awaken amidst it, but even then they can have trouble understanding realising that they have done exactly what they have dreamt about.
Disorder treatment methods
If a person, during sleeping, hears something that does not fit into this dream (for instance a telephone ringing), they will also wake up.
For treating this state, it is necessary to rule out possible causes like alcohol and stress. Psychotherapy is recommended, and if nothing of the above works, the problem is treated with sleep and muscle relaxation medication, the BBC News reports.
