Smashing Pumpkins In Europe At Last

Text

One of the most influential bands of the 90s together again, the Smashing Pumpkins are working on a new album “Zeitgeist”.

Details about the Smashing Pumpkins’ first concert have been announced, after a pause of six years. Because of personal conflicts, drugs and money, the band split in 2000, and Billy Corgan continued his solo career. Last year, the Pumpkins announced their reunion, however of the old members, only Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin stay, whilst James Iha is still working with A Perfect Circle. The place of D’arcy Elizabeth Wretzky is wanted by Melissa Auf der Maur. However no final list of the band members have been confirmed.

The first concert of the upcoming European tour will be on the 22nd May in Paris’ Grand Rex. Until then, the Smashing Pumpkins will stay in the studio recording their new album “Zeitgeist” with Queen’s producer Roy Thomas Baker and Terry Date. The new materials are the collection of two years of work, and they will present them at European summer festivals. A question that remain is how will Corgan’s ego react to playing with his old band, considering that two years ago during his solo concert, he was angry about the public’s requests for Pumpkin’s songs, so he left the stage.

The closest performance to Croatia will be at the German festival Rock Im Park/Rock Am Ring 2, and the Austrian Nova Rock on the 15th of June, and at the Venetian Heineken Jammin on the 16th June. Whilst waiting for the Pumpkins, take a look at their official webpage.
