THE NAME MATTERS

A certain name may sound nice, but before you name your child Suri or Zuma, you better find out what it means.
A new British translation company called “Today’s Translation” is supposed to help future parents avoid potential embarrassment by naming their children something ‘inappropriate’.
The name Suri Cruise, daughter of Tom Cruise, is a good example of this. Suri, translates to “pickpocket” in Japanese, “turned sour” in French, and “horse mackerels” in Italian.
For about $1,700, “Today’s Translation” will perform a “name translation review,” meaning they’ll check out the name in 100 languages.
“You’ll rest assured you are picking a good name,” Company owner says, adding “At the end of the day, it’s something a person has to live with for the rest of their lives.”
This service is open to anybody, but the company hopes that they will attract celebrities because there seems to be some sort of unwritten rule that when they have babies, they have to name them something strange.
