Susan Boyle has spoken of her honour at being chosen to sing for Pope Benedict XVI when he visits Glasgow in September.
Susan Boyle says performing for the Pope is a "dream come true".
The 49-year-old singer - who is a devout Catholic - is ecstatic at being asked to sing for Pope Benedict XVI in an open-air ceremony in Glasgow when he visits the city next month.
Speaking from her home, she said: "To be able to sing for the Pope is a great honour and something I've always dreamed of - it's indescribable.
"I think the 16th of September will stand out in my memory as something I've always wanted to do, I've always wanted to sing for his Holiness and I can't really put into words my happiness, that this wish has come true at last."
Susan will sing her best known song 'I Dreamed a Dream' from 'Les Miserables' as well as perform with an 800-strong choir while the Pope performs mass.
She also admitted she was "humbled" by the opportunity to perform.
She said: "The Pope's visit is a very big event for Scottish Catholics. My own faith is the backbone of my life, I pray and say the rosary each day and am very close to my religion.
"I am humbled and honoured by this invitation and I hope I can do my best."
