Heath Ledger makes Hollywood and Oscar history by being the second ever actor to win at the academy awards after his death.

The latest celebrity and entertainment headlines including the big Oscar winners, Tyler Perry's box office gold and the worst films of 2008.

"Slumdog Millionaire" took top honors at the 81st Academy Awards. The small-budget British film was named best picture and won seven other Oscars, including best Director for Danny Boyle.

Kate Winslet was named best actress for her dramatic turn as a former Nazi prison guard who has a love affair with a teenage boy in "The Reader."

Penelope Cruz broke through as the first Spanish actress to claim an Academy Award, winning for her supporting role in the Woody Allen romance "Vicky Cristina Barcelona".

And Australian Heath Ledger, who died last year of an accidental overdose, was named best supporting actor for his role as the evil Joker in the Batman blockbuster "The Dark Knight." He became only the second performer after Peter Finch to win an Oscar posthumously.

Sean Penn, the lone American among the newly honored performers, was voted best actor for his portrait of slain gay rights leader Harvey Milk in the political drama "Milk."

Prolific filmmaker Tyler Perry scored the biggest opening of his career on Sunday as "Madea Goes to Jail" sold $41.1 million worth of tickets at the weekend box office in North America. Additionally, "Madea Goes to Jail" ranks as the best opening for any Lionsgate release.

The Liam Neeson kidnap thriller "Taken," a former chart-topper, rebounded one place to Number 2. Focus Features' stop-motion cartoon "Coraline" jumped two to number 3 in its third week. The Warner Bros. romantic comedy "He's Just Not That Into You," the box office leader two weeks ago, fell two spots to Number 4. And like any underdog story - Oscar winner "Slumdog Millionaire" jumped four places to Number 5.

On the other end of the movie spectrum - Mike Myers and Paris Hilton won their own honors - for the worst of the year. Myers and his comedy "The Love Guru," were named worst actor and worst picture of 2008 at the Razzie Awards. Socialite Paris Hilton was named worst actress and worst supporting actress.
