The City will pay 40 million kuna a year for rent to the investors after its finishing, and the deadline is October 31, 2008.
A Greek entrepreneur, Slavko Simunovic, Ingra and Hungarian Jews led by Davor Stern, will build a handball hall with 16,000 seats in Zagreb, it was said today at the Holding company.
A project worth EUR100 million
A hall will be built at Laniste, between The New Hospital and the roundabout in Zagreb. The Hungarian Jews onw tat land. Simunovic and Hungarian investors will invest almost EUR100 million in the project. Due to the short time, Holding decided for operative leasing on the whole project, which means that the rent for hall in the amount of EUR6-7 million or 40 million kuna will be paid a year.
The hall itself will cost 80 million EUR and next to the hall, there will be a parking place at 5,000 square meters. A part of investment will be paid by the shopping centre, which is going to be built nearby. A shopping centre will use the parking place during the day, and at night, visitors to the games will use it.
The biggest worry to the city authorities is how to get that amount for the rent, which will be paid by the City or Holding for 25 years.
The hall similar to one in Krakow
Slavko Simunovic, a Greek entrepreneur of Croatian origin, will take a part with his idea solution similar to the buildings in Krakow, Köln and Athens.
The other hall will be built in Svetice, but its capacity will be only 5,000 seats. The third option of building sn extension to Dom Sportova is far from realisation. Mayor Milan Bandic has decided that Zagreb will build a hall for 16,000 people under any circumstances, after the government has withdrawn the bill on financing the hall through direct settlement.
All halls have to be completed by October 31 2008.
