Ademi Will Not Go Into Custody

Text

Zagreb County court Council denied the request for taking Ademi and Norac into custody for war crimes in the Medak pocket military operation

Zeljko Olujic, the attorney of Mirko Norac, told us he is satisfied with the ruling for now, but also believes this is his client`s human rights deprivation.

-Norac is being indicted for non-perpetrated actions, which is like someone asking for misfortune, and not helping the ruined person, and that is more lenient all in itself- notes Olujic.

He points out that his client is already serving a 12-year sentence and is available to the court, so ordering detention would be a deprivation of his human rights.

-If someone is already serving a prison sentence, he is also in custody- commented the attorney Olujic to whom anticipated precaution measures do not make sense because Norac can only communicate with his family from prison.

Namely, Ademi is forbidden to leave his residing place, he must report to the police each week and must not influence witnesses. Any contact with witnesses is also forbidden to Norac, and in a case of these measures violation, custody can be ordered. Precaution measures are put into effect as of now, and the Supreme Court has a three-day time period for an appeal of the extra-judicial council decision.
