All Croatia Derailment Victims Had Insurance

So far, nobody has filed a lawsuit against Croatian Railways and the passengers have not requested insurance compensation.

Six persons died when a passenger train derailed near the Adriatic city of Split on July 27 and their families are entitled to a total of 4.44 million kuna of compensation (approximately 608,219 euros), the Vecernji list daily writes.

Persons closest to the victims, children, spouses and parents will receive 220,000 kuna (approximately 3,0136 euros). The victims` brothers and sisters will receive 160,000 kuna, while the insurance company all passengers had insurance with will pay 240,000 kuna.

All the passengers who were travelling from Zagreb to Split had insurance with the Sunce osiguranje company. Their ticket was their insirance policy and it is stil not clear what will happen to those passengerswho lost their tickets in the accident.

Families of the killed passengers have the option of filing a lawsuit against Croatian Railways (HZ), however, head of HZ communications Vlatka Skoric says they have not yet received a single lawsuit and none of the injured persons have yet requested compensation from Sunce osiguranje.

The passengers can file a lawsuit against HZ for inflicted physical pain, body scars, others` care, anguish or disability.
