Apartments: Dubrovnik for 80, Crikvenica 35€/Night

Text

During the next few days you can read about the prices of apartments on Javno.com. We start with Porec, Crikvenica, Split and Dubrovnik.

The financial crisis has taken hold in Croatia and wider, and it seems that the dark prognoses by analysts, who predicted a poor end to the tourist season compared to the record 2008, are coming true.

Crikvenica

In Crikvenica, you can get an apartment with one to three stars starting from 37 to 55 euros, whilst a night in a luxury apartment can be up to 100 euros.
In order to show people what they can expect when renting out an apartment, we found out the price per night in apartment in four tourist centres – Porec, Crikvenica, Split and Dubrovnik, and during the next ten days we will report on other attractive location on the coast as well.

Porec – closer to the sea is more expensive

In Porec, which tourist agents call the most exciting city in Istria, or Croatia, the price of one night in an apartment varies from 45 to 60 euros. However, the prices vary depending on the location, and we found out from the tourist agency Istraline that an apartment for two people costs 45 euros in the first zone closer to the sea, whilst the second zone is 42 euros.

On the other hand, the Ani Tours agency says that the lowest price of apartments is 49 euros, whilst the highest is from 55 to 60 euros. Also, the prices fall by about 20 percent outside of Porec, they say in the agency.

As far as the activities people can see in Porec, there are regular concerts and presentations in the old part of Porec at the main square, as well as in the atrium of the basilica. Of course, the guests can enjoy the many disco clubs, café bars and restaurants.

-.--.-Crikvenica – luxury apartment for 100 euros

Slight more to the south is Crikvenica, a very popular destination in the Adriatic, where an apartment with one to three stars costs between 37 and 55 euros, and luxury apartments can cost up to 100 euros.

According to the Adria Tours agency, we found out that apartments cost from 37 to 40 euros for two people, and the Crikvenica Turist agency says the prices are from 35 to 55 euros. The price in surrounding places are lower by about ten percent, and there has been a fall in demand for accommodation in the whole area.

In Crikvenica you can enjoy yourself on one of the many beaches, and when night comes, there is the famous ‘Galija’ club, as well as the pub ‘Lord of the Pubs’, which many say is the best place to go out.

Split – demand falls drastically

In Split the accommodation for two people during July depends on the category and location, but mainly varies from 50 to 60 euros per night. A four bed apartment costs between 70 and 80 euros, according to the Maestral agency.

The Crotour agency reports that prices vary from 60 to 65 euros per night for four people. According to the agencies, the number of reservations in Split is lower by about 40 percent.

Besides taking a look at Diocletian’s Palace, visitors in Split are advised to check out the ‘Split Summer’ program and various beach parties and concerts. Also, the city has rich gastrological offerings.

Dubrovnik – 10 euros cheaper outside the city

Dubrovnik is the most expensive – with one night in an apartment for two people varies between 70 and 80 euros, and for four people it is between 100 and 120 euros. The accommodation outside Dubrovnik is cheaper by around 10 euros.
Dubrovnik – 10 euros cheaper outside the city

Expectedly, Dubrovnik turned out to be the most expensive city. The Atlas agency told us that apartments for two people vary from 70 to 80 euros per night. However, the price could fall to 60 euros in a week’s time.

Apartments for four people can vary from 100 to 120 euros, which depends on the category of the apartments and location. Outside Dubrovnik the accommodation is cheaper by around ten euros.

Adriatic Global charges between 25 to 35 euros per day for its apartments, which depends on the location and rooms. Just like in pervious cases, the prices are mainly lower outside the city.

Both of these Dubrovnik agencies complained about the fall in the number of reservations and amount of filled rooms, which is not satisfactory.

During a visit to Dubrovnik, besides taking a look around the city, we recommend you take a look at the “Dubrovnik Summer Festival”, the Lindjo dance at Lazarete on Friday and the regular concerts. However, the night life is not especially interesting for the young – with one to two beach parties being held, and the occasional party in one of the few discos.
