ZAGREB, CROATIA - The police have brought in and questioned Vesna Kvartuc, who was the director in some of Petrovic’s companies. Kvartuc was questioned just after 4pm and brought before the investigation centre of the Zagreb County Court.
The police did not reveal the identity of the suspects, but the police directorate reported that on Thursday night the 43 year old director was arrested, and that the 47 year old suspect is unavailable.
The head of the police directorate’s office Krunoslav Borovec confirmed that an APB has been filed against Blaz Petrovic and that he suspects that he is in one of the neighbouring countries. Also, a crime report will be filed against Blaz via regular channels.
The police believe that the suspected director only fictively manages the “Morovnik” company, and that the business is really done by Petrovic. They are being charged with making various fictive jobs with various physical and legal people between September 2003 and June 2004. This is how Petrovic illegally gained 9.6 million kuna.
“The fictive legal business is related to the making of unfounded contracts of cession, settlements and taking over debts, giving and receiving loans and other legal business that was not recorded in the business bookkeeping” it says in the report from the police directorate.
