More children are born, fathers are older, mothers younger, and the number of twins born last year exceeded all expectations.

According to the City Department of Health, more twins are born. The largest birthrate was recorded in New Zagreb, Dubrava and Tresnjevka, the Vecernji list reports.

An analyses was conducted based on information on parents who received help for equipping their new borns in 2006. It is an interesting fact that two fathers last year were older than 61, while 8 juvenile mothers were recorded.

Information stating 111 parents of twins is astonishing, especially if it is noted that a year previous to last, there were only five of them. Most newly born twins, 18 of them, live in Tresnjevka.

From the Office for infants` help they say, it was their goal for parents to decide on two or more children. City head of Health`s assistant, Mirosav Laco, said he noticed even 12 couples with 7 children in their records, two couples with 8 children and a couple with 9 children, which is a good indicator of the increasing birthrate.
