The Union members reported about the last week’s meeting with the Mayor Milan Bandic. He suggested the cuts in salaries, bonuses, Christmas bonuses and holiday bonuses for all employees of the city. There are 10,500 of them and they include all employees of city administration, kindergartens, firemen, librarians in city libraries and all those working in the field of city’s culture.

- The meeting was held but the written plan is still being prepared. This written plan would show the exact figures of cuts in the city administration – said Ivan Katalenic, the Union representative of the city administration. This union has about 1,100 members.

He also pointed out the fact that the Mayor Bandic confirmed that the city budget is weaker than predicted. The decrease is about six percent. Therefore, it is necessary to implement the saving measures.

- Our Union is waiting for the written saving plan as well as the others who are being paid from the city budget. After we get the documents, we can talk about our further steps and our reactions- Katalinic announces.

The real meaning of all these negotiations has been calculated by Tportal. According to their calculations, 10,500 employees would get the salary for April which is 350 HRK less than the salary in the previous period.
