Based on the current relations between the cities of Zagreb and Sofia, the two mayors signed the document about friendship and future cooperation. The document was signed by Milan Bandic and Yordanka Fandakova. There is a mutual interest in future cooperation between the two cities.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia in Bulgaria Danijela Barisic was also present.
The aim of Memorandum is to strengthen economic and cultural relationship between the two cities. The cooperation will include educational and scientific institutions as well as sharing the experiences regarding EU funds and EU programs.
The cooperation will also take place in the field of public transport, traffic and parking problems, environmental programs focused on energetic efficiency and the protection of environment, learning about cultures, history and tradition, cooperation in the field of sports, sharing experiences in organization of city administration, programs and rules of EU institutions.
The two mayors also talked about the recent earthquake that hit Bulgaria. The mayor Bandic invited 50 children from Vladaj, a part of Sofia, to spend two weeks at the Adriatic Coast. The area of Vladaj was damaged by the recent earthquake.
