Milan Bandic hired photographers, cameramen, editors, two music bands, and a bus. He also plans to distribute juices and apples.
Milan Bandic’s presidential campaign will be the most expensive campaign in the history of Croatia. Vecernji List estimates that Bandic will spend 20 million HRK in an attempt to become the President.
This amount is slightly lower than what a total of 13 presidential candidates spent campaigning five years ago. Their combined input was 25 million kunas.
However, 20 million is not far from the 19 million kunas that were then spent by Stjepan Mesic, Jadranka Kosor and Boris Miksic.
In an effort to win the votes, Bandic organized a series of state-wide concerts where the band Prljavo Kazliste and Klapa Intrade will perform.
Bandic’s election headquarters also hired OB truck with two cameramen, an editor and director. They will shoot a video in every town and village in which Bandic appears, send it to public TV networks, and make posters from each event.
Juices, apples and a bus
Videos that invite the voters to come and support the campaign have already been recorded. However, the most expensive element of the campaign will be the technical and logistical support needed for the concerts. If we add up the costs for royalties and performers, running and recording of the promotional videos, the figure climbs to 17 million.
In all the cities that they tour, Banic plans to distribute apples and juices. The crew that consists of around 40 people will travel in a rented bus. However, the marketing guru, Kresimir Macan, argues that the campaign will cost less than anticipated because of the crisis. He says that people are willing to work for less money, especially if the gig lasts for only one month.
On the other hand, Vesna Pusic, will be more modest with her campaign and she plans to spend 4 million kunas. The same goes for Andrija Hebrang, Ivo Josipovic and Nadan Vidosevic who plan to spend a little over five million kunas.
