Of 26 members, Belgium is the nineteenth to accept the Croatian request to enter NATO, which represents a significant step.
Belgium has ratified the protocol for expanding the NATO alliance to include Croatia, reports the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integrations.
With this move, Belgium has become the 19th NATO member to support Croatia’s entry into NATO, which currently has a total of 26 members. The nations that have supported Croatian entry into NATO are: Hungary, Latvia, the USA, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Turkey, Norway, Denmark, Spain, Estonia, Czech Republic, Italy, Great Britain, Canada and Germany.
According to the ministry, this is a significant step in Croatia joining NATO. The ministry firmly believes that Croatia is prepared to take more responsibilities in world relations – which would gain Croatia a more active role and more influential position in the international community.
