Bill is a Blow to Democracy

Text

Citizens’ association points to failures of the governmental bill because it will be a blow to democracy and citizens’ rights.

GONG considers that the government has changed a lot in its bill on confidentiality of individual data, but the key things were not defined, so the bill to the right to access information could become a dead letter.

‘The citizens became David, and the state Goliath’, recon at GONG, emphasising that only the most persistent citizens will take the battle of proving their right to be informed.

The association does not understand what will happen when a document, which screens a felony, misusing the power or any other illegal act, would be declared a secret.

Considering the recent events in relation to secret services, it is obvious that the need for independent authority to perform control law conducting and the protection of public interest is essential.

‘If the bill to the right to access information is not supplemented, then this bill would be an attack on democracy, the citizens’ rights and public institute’ stands in GONG’s note.
