Black Box From Kornati Helicopter Destroyed

The black box that should reveal the sequence of events from Kornati, and help in enlightening the tragedy has gone.

The black box from the Kornati helicopter, more precisely the recording that could reveal what happened on the tragic day when 12 fire-fighters died on Kornati, according to the writing of the newspaper Novi List, has been destroyed.

Mladen Magdic, the president of the fire-fighters union, told us in a telephone conversation how shocked he is with that statement.

“I am surprised with the statement by judge Ivic, who gave that information to a Novi List journalist. I cannot confirm or deny that the tape was erased. I thought that it was the crown evidence, and now the recording, allegedly, no longer exists” said Magdic. He stressed that the whole fire-fighting committee is also shocked at that information.

The tape recorded the conversation between the pilots, crew and fire-fighters, which is the crown evidence in determining the sequence of events, and the agreement on determining the location of debarking was recorded, which could explain why the fire-fighters were left 700 meters away from the helicopter water bucket.
